The Oeko-Tex [Økoˈtɛks] certification is a global textile product certification system that certifies the fabric has been tested for dangerous compounds and is safe for human use. The certification is managed by the International Oeko-Tex Association, a Swiss corporation, and is accepted by many governments and organizations worldwide.

The Process
The certification process begins with a textile manufacturer sending a sample of their fabric to an authorized laboratory for testing. The fabric is tested for a number of toxic elements, including pesticides, heavy metals, formaldehyde, and other chemicals that can be harmful to human health. Once the cloth has passed these tests, the maker is issued a one-year Oeko-Tex certificate. It’s not a one-time process; instead, the product must be re-certified every year. This maintains the standards current and also ensures that the items continue to fulfill the safety criteria.

Certification Levels
The system has several certification levels, each with its own set of standards. The most basic requirement, known as "Standard 100," indicates that the fabric has been tested for harmful substances and is acceptable for use in adult clothing and textiles. The next level, "Standard 1000," ensures that the fabric has been tested for harmful substances and is safe for use in children's clothing and textiles. The highest level of certification, "Made in Green," certifies not only that the fabric is safe to use, but also that it was produced in an environmentally friendly manner.
The certification assures consumers that the cloth they are purchasing has been tested for dangerous compounds and is safe for usage. It also indicates that environmental regulations have been satisfied. The Oeko-Tex logo may be found on textile items and can assist consumers in locating products that satisfy their requirements for using eco-friendly, safe, and healthy products.

Customer Safety Assurance
In addition to giving customers with assurance, the Oeko-Tex certification benefits textile producers by offering a means for them to demonstrate their commitment to manufacturing safe, high-quality goods.
Overall, the Oeko-Tex certification provides an important degree of consumer safety while also demonstrating textile producers' commitment to providing safe, high-quality goods in an ecologically responsible manner. It is becoming increasingly important as people become more concerned about the environment and their health, and it can be a beneficial tool for both producers and consumers as they navigate the marketplace.
